OWL is a free, web-based resource designed to help you find online orthopaedic information quickly and easily. OWL is also a community of people like you, who strive to provide an authoritative directory of orthopaedics.

Who is OWL?


Christian Veillette - Chief Editor & Director of Technology
Christian Veillette MD, FRCS(C), MSc, BSc(Hon) is an orthopaedic surgeon at the University Health Network in Toronto, ON with subspecialty interest in shoulder and elbow reconstructive surgery. He is a Director of the Internet Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma and Co-Founder/Director of the Orthogate Project, an orthopaedic portal that provides the oldest global orthopaedic mailing lists, the most active orthopaedic surgery education forum, multimedia guides for patient & surgeon education. He has been instrumental in the development of a solid technology infrastructure and tools for Orthopaedic Web Links, the largest collection of peer-reviewed orthopaedic resources on the Internet.
 
Myles Clough - Past Editor
Myles Clough practiced full time orthopaedic surgery and traumatology as a consultant in Kamloops BC for 25 years. He has retired from active practice. He was instrumental in developing the OWL database and other projects in orthopaedic informatics. The relative remoteness of Kamloops as a place to practice and a life-long interest in information technology led him to take up the Orthopaedic Internet with enthusiasm.
Since 1996 he has been editor of Orthopaedic Web Links (OWL). He was a foundation member of the Orthogate Consortium and the Internet Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma. He co-authored The Internet for Orthopaedists with Don Johnson and is the Information Technology editor for the Canadian Orthopaedic Association Bulletin.
Chris Oliver - Past Editor
Mr Christopher Oliver BSc (Hons), MB. BS, FRCS (Eng), FRCS (Tr and Orth), FRCS (Ed), FRCP (Edin), DMI RCSEd, DM is a specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at The New Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France in Scotland. He is a member of Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (2002-2007).  His specialist interest is upper limb problems especially involving the hand and elbow. The Edinburgh Orthopaedic Trauma Unit in which he works is one of the busiest in the United Kingdom. He is responsible for the supervision and training of specialist orthopaedic trainees and visiting overseas trainees.  Chris Oliver has a major research interest in the development of the Internet in relation to Surgery. He has edited major national and international orthopaedic websites and previously help established the global Orthopod e-mail list. Chris Oliver is no longer actively involved as an Associate Editor because of other commitments, however, his previous contributions remain an important component of the OWL Directory.
