Description: Clinical evaluation, radiographs, and sonograms together determined the need for US-guided aspiration. US-guided aspiration allowed selection of only those with septic arthritis for operative drainage and shortened that procedure. Negative sonograms allow exclusion of septic arthritis but not osteomyelitis.
