What causes hip arthritis?

Hip arthritis happens when the cartilage in your hip joint wears down. Cartilage is a slippery tissue that allows your bones to move smoothly against each other. When it wears down, your hip bones rub together, which can cause pain, stiffness, and swelling.
Here are some common things that can lead to hip arthritis:
Wear and Tear: As we age, the cartilage in our joints can naturally wear down.
Injury: A past injury to your hip, like a fracture or dislocation, can increase your risk of developing arthritis later in life.
Family History: If you have close relatives with hip arthritis, you’re more likely to develop it too.
Joint Shape: Sometimes, people are born with hips that aren’t perfectly shaped. This can make them more prone to wear and tear, leading to arthritis.
It’s important to remember that while these factors can increase your risk, they don’t guarantee that you’ll develop hip arthritis. If you’re experiencing hip pain, it’s best to talk to your doctor to get a proper diagnosis and discuss treatment options.
