Dear colleague! In similar case I would try to reduce the fracture and than estimate its stability. If stable and in acceptable position I would strap adjacent fingers together and apply splint for so called dynamic treatment or functional immobilization as described by Burton, Burkhalter, Ebinger and others. For unstable or those reduced in unacceptable position I prefer closed reduction and external fixation but, there are many more convenient methods of percutaneous fixation that will allow immediate active exercises.
