We here are not lucky to have so advanced veterinarians, but
recent years we extracted some difficult nails by hand drilling along the
nail with a long awl 4 or 5 mm. The awl is sliding over the nail as
shown at the attached image. A single drilled hole 5 mm is enough to
pull the nail manually. The trick can also be performed with a 3 mm
wire inserted along 2-3 sides of the nail.
