RE: [ORT-L] fem head fx in obese pt Can't Post

Friends,

*Kindly do not take offence.*

The 948K image that was sent was manipulated as follows:

1) Cropped un-necessary parts.
2) Saved as low quality image.
3) Changed to grey scale.
4) Reduced size of image.

I think that we still have an image with all the details one would like to
see(correct me if I am wrong) but it has only less than 40K compared to
original 948K.

It will be a good consideration to the less fortunate list members in
different parts of the world to edit the image before posting it to the
list.

hello,
no offense taken. the image looks good. you are much better with software than I. I was able to
crop my image down to 450k, and then save as low quality image with less "k". our main research
PhD guy came in to my office just as I was attempting to alter the file and he showed my the way.
anyhow, I will send condensed files in the future. thanks for the nudge.

Did you just release or completely resect the teres ligament? I found this ligament occasionally flopping around in the joint, and thus being a stubborn obstacle to concentric reduction.

I would assume that you are pretty confident about the quality of the reduction of the Pipkin fragment. Typically these fragments carry a characteristic inferior "spike", allowing for near perfect reduction. Correct?

good thought about the ligament. I cut the ligament and resected some of it but did not attempt
complete resection. the medial portion of the head did indeed have the inferior spike that you
mentioned, so yes from this point of reference I felt as if the reduction was near anatomic.
there was bony loss at the superior aspect, again from the piece noted between the fragments on
the coronal CT cut. so the head was as concentric as it could be. if and when this pt gets a
repeat pelvic CT scan I will post images. thanks for the input.
