[ORT-L] FW: Humerus non union Can't Post

 







67 yr old male sustained humeral shaft fracture in Nov,06. initially treated in a functional brace followed by IM nail about 6 months ago (xrays attached)patient complains of pain and feels the fracture site movement with IR and ER of shoulder.what would be the option for further treatment. i think the nail is not locked rigidly. would adding more interlocking screws give adequate stability? or should i consider ORIF...thanksShital Parikh, MDBuchanan OrthopaedicsGrundy, VA

Evidently your patient have a atrophic pseudoartrosis dof humerus. The
longuitudinal line of fracture id typicaly of oblique long humerus shaft
fracture.
The better initial treatment probably was several interfragmentary
screws.
but now you have a biological facttor deficit and ostheopenic humerus.
Today a good and simple option is Phemister Chatro bone grafts, Dunn
subpriostical decortication, and 2 or 3 orthopaedics cables
