ASPS is a slow growing but, highly malignant tumour. Histogenesis of this tumour has not been established. Some have supported the idea that the tumour represents a distinct variant of rhabdomyosarcoma. However, subsequent studies have failed to demonstrate rhabdomyoblastic differentiation.
