Description: MR imaging of the menisci of the knee has proven useful for more than 10 years, with current sensitivity and specificity for meniscal tears ranging from 90% to 95% in most reports. In the past few years, advances in imaging the menisci, including appropriate imaging techniques, and in imaging of bucket-handle tears, meniscal cysts, displaced meniscal flap tears, radial tears, peripheral tears, meniscal contusion, the effect of chondrocalcinosis, and some normal variants have been reported. This review will discuss these recently described developments.
