2008 Bone Health in Cancer Care

The agenda and topics for our task force meeting that are currently being put into a draft report were the screening and detection of osteoporosis, treatment options for osteoporosis, the impact of chemotherapy-induced ovarian failure on bone health, aromatase inhibitor bone loss, and management of bone health in prostate cancer. We incorporated a new section on the role of adjuvant bisphosphonates to reduce recurrence. We talked about the pathophysiology of bone metastases, the treatment of bone metastasis, imaging of bone metastasis, and then surgical and radiation treatment of bone metastasis.
