Foot pain is a major problem in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). About 90% of people with RA complain of painful feet during the course of their disease, with most patients suffering from the onset of the disease. Despite this high rate of involvement, research into the causes and treatment of foot problems associated with RA have historically been neglected and services to provide foot care to people with RA are generally poor.
