We compared 15 patients treated with monaxial versus 15 patients treated with multiaxial thoracic pedicle screws for AIS (Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis). Coronal curve correction was similar between the two groups (mon 61% vs. multi 62%); however, monaxial screws provided greater correction and vertebral rotation and thoracic torsion as assessed by improvement in rib hump (68% vs. 33%; p <0.0001), apical vertebral body-rib ratio (81% vs. 65%; p = 0.10), and apical rib spread difference (79% vs. 52%; p = 0.11)
