Description: Authors Scott D. Weiner, MD Thomas Scharschmidt, MD; Akron, OH Plantar fibromatosis is a condition characterized by the development of firm, poorly circumscribed fibrous nodules along the plantar aponeurosis. Dupuytren’s contracture of the palmar fascia is a pathologically similar well-known and described entity, although the plantar form is less likely to cause contracture deformities of the digits. Plantar fibromatosis, also known as Ledderhose’s disease, seems to be clinically similar to palmar fibromatosis and appears to be related to this and other superficial fibromatoses. Outline - I.
